NASCAR Cup Series standings tighten ahead of Talladega

KYMA

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA) - Tyler Reddick took home the checkered flag in the Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway over the weekend, adding more intrigue to an increasingly competitive NASCAR Cup Series standings battle.

Reddick finished ahead of Ryan Blaney, who placed second, while Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell rounded out the top four.

Despite the finish, the spotlight now shifts to the championship race, where six drivers sit within 56 points of the top spot. Kyle Larson currently leads the standings as the season approaches its final three races.

Drivers will head to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for a pivotal race that could reshape the championship picture. Reddick said his approach will remain consistent as the season winds down.

“I feel like we did that in the beginning of the year and that won't change,” Reddick said. “We'll just take it one race at a time and try to make the most of each day. I think Talladega is really going to paint the picture of where things are going to be.”

Chase Briscoe echoed that sentiment, highlighting just how quickly the standings have tightened in recent weeks.

“Three weeks ago we were 123 out and looking at the thing right now, I think it's like a seven cars and 56 points,” Briscoe said. “It's anybody's race right now. Talladega is definitely going to be the deciding factor and hopefully we can go there and survive the chaos.”

Following Talladega, the Cup Series will head to Martinsville Speedway for the Xfinity 500 before concluding the season with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
