Dodgers eliminated from playoffs for first time in three seasons

MLB

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KYMA) - The Milwaukee Brewers eliminated the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-4 win, completing a sweep of the National League Championship Series and ending Los Angeles’ bid for a third consecutive World Series title.

The Dodgers struck first at home, building a 4-0 lead in the second inning. Shohei Ohtani launched a solo home run to extend Los Angeles’ advantage after the team had already taken a 1-0 lead off of an Andy Pages RBI.

Milwaukee began its comeback in the fourth inning when Jake Bauers hit a two-run ground-rule double to cut into the deficit. The Brewers tied the game with two runs in the fifth before Garrett Mitchell launched a home run to give Milwaukee the lead.

David Hamilton added an insurance run in the ninth inning with a solo home run, putting the Brewers ahead 6-4. Jackson Chourio then tracked down Kiké Hernández’s fly ball in left field to seal the victory and end the Dodgers’ season.

The sweep marks the first time in Dodgers history that the team has been swept in the NLCS. For Milwaukee, the victory sends the franchise to the World Series for the first time in 44 years.

The Brewers will face the winner of the Tampa Bay Rays-Cleveland Guardians series in the Fall Classic.
