Damage along Long Beach’s Peninsula grows days after powerful waves battered homes

LONG BEACH, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - The damage along long beach's peninsula continues to grow after days of powerful waves.

Tropical Storm Rachel has moved on, but she left her mark on some homes.

At least 13 homes have been red-tagged, meaning they're too dangerous to occupy. Inspectors said the number could change as they work to assess the damage.

Some of the homes are losing sand beneath their foundations and walls are cracking.

Evacuated residents are left wondering if they'll have homes to return to.
