Selma Blair faces assault charges in New York following incident during flight from L.A.

NEW YORK CITY (NBC, KYMA) - Actress Selma Blair is facing assault charges in New York following an incident after a flight from Los Angeles.

Blair, known for films such as "Cruel Intentions," "Legally Blonde" and "Hellboy," was arraigned Monday on two counts of second-degree assault.

Prosecutors allege the 54-year-old actress kicked a Port Authority police officer while being taken from JFK Airport to an ambulance, then kicked a nurse at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

The alleged assaults followed an incident aboard a delta flight from Los Angeles to New York, where two flight attendants reported injuries.

Blair's attorneys said in court the incident stemmed from a medical emergency, citing her diagnoses of multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's.

Bail was set at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond. The case is scheduled to resume January 19.
