Gila Ridge’s Grady Ebert wins boys golf district title; Hawks capture 17th straight team championship

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) — Gila Ridge continued its dominance on the golf course, with junior Grady Ebert winning the individual title at the 2026 Yuma County Boys District Golf Championship at Mesa del Sol Golf Club.

Ebert carded a 73 to edge teammate Chase Toomey by one stroke and claim the district championship. The junior finished with two birdies and 13 pars, setting a new personal best after previously shooting an 84 at Mesa Del Sol.

Ebert came close to finishing even par, narrowly missing a birdie putt on the 18th hole before settling for par.

His confidence started early in the day and carried through the round.

“Probably on the range this morning. I probably only had like one bad shot, so I wasn't feeling too bad about it,” Ebert said. “And then everything just kind of went along from there. Honestly, probably my tee shots were my best thing. Irons were a little rough here and there, but I made it back on short game.”

Toomey, a sophomore who transferred from Yuma Catholic, finished second with a 74. After sitting out half the season due to transferring, he found his rhythm later in the year and delivered a strong performance at the district championship, recording 14 pars and a birdie on the 15th hole.

Gila Ridge junior Carter Goodwin rounded out the top three with a 78. Goodwin recorded 12 pars to finish third.

The Hawks also claimed the team championship, extending their streak to 17 consecutive Yuma County boys district golf titles.

Senior Trent Caudle led the next group of finishers outside the top three, carding an 81.

The championship capped another successful season for Gila Ridge and Yuma County’s high school golfers.
