Wednesday marks third anniversary of massive terror attack in Israel

(CNN, KYMA) - Wednesday marks the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas terror attacks in Israel.

On that day, Hamas and other militant groups killed 1,200 people and kidnapped more than 250 others.

One of their main targets was the Nova Music Festival, where young people were celebrating with electronic dance music.

The sheer brutality of the attacks captured the world's attention.

Terrorists killed people as they tried to escape, and shot them at point blank range in their cars, But the scale of Israel's response has also drawn harsh criticism.

The attack led to the Gaza War, and Israel's retaliatory strikes have killed more than 70,000 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
