Dodgers take 2-1 series lead; Padres stay alive with Game 3 win

SAN DIEGO (KYMA) - The Los Angeles Dodgers are one win away from advancing to the NLCS after holding off the Atlanta Braves in Game 3 and taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered another strong postseason performance, going seven innings while striking out 10 and allowing just one earned run.

The Dodgers’ offense continued to rely on the long ball. Kike Hernández and Freddie Freeman each homered, giving Los Angeles seven home runs through the first three playoff games.

All 10 of the Dodgers’ runs in the series have come via the long ball.

The Dodgers will look to close out the series in Game 4 on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres kept their season alive with a dramatic Game 3 victory after entering the matchup with their backs against the wall.

The game was tied entering the fifth inning before Jake Cronenworth launched a solo home run to give San Diego the lead.

The Padres added an insurance run in the sixth when Miguel Andújar drove in Xander Bogaerts after a throwing error.

Milwaukee answered in the seventh when Christian Yelich drove in William Contreras with a line drive, cutting the Padres’ lead to 4-3.

Michael King entered in the eighth inning with a save opportunity and closed out the victory, allowing San Diego to stay alive in the series.

The Padres will return for Game 4 at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
