Holiday shopping kicks off with huge consumer savings

(CBS, KYMA) - The holiday shopping season moves into high gear already, with major retailers kicking off their early season sales this week.

Amazon Prime Big Deal Days began Tuesday and runs through Wednesday with Target, Walmart, Best Buy and Kohls also rolling out massive sales.

According to Adobe Analytics, consumers are expected to shell out nearly $10 billion shopping online Tuesday and Wednesday, with average discounts topping out around 19%.

Analysts said it's a good idea to spread your spending over multiple months.

Experts also said shoppers should check their credit card rewards, beware of high interest rates on retail cards and comparison shop across retailers to maximize savings.
