Braves edge Dodgers 3-2 to even NLDS, take home field advantage

LOS ANGELES (KYMA) - The Atlanta Braves have evened their National League Division Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers after a 3-2 victory in Game 2 Sunday.

The Dodgers were looking to take a 2-0 series lead back to Atlanta, but the Braves used timely hitting and a strong performance from their bullpen to even the series at one game apiece.

Atlanta got on the board first in the opening inning when Mauricio Dubón drove in a run with an infield single.

The Dodgers answered in the fourth when Freddie Freeman launched a solo home run to right field to tie the game.

Atlanta immediately regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth after a wild pitch from Dodgers pitcher Kris Bubic brought home a run.

Michael Harris II added a much needed insurance run for the Braves in the seventh with an RBI double, giving Atlanta a 3-1 advantage.

The Braves bullpen then helped preserve the lead, with 21-year-old reliever Didier Fuentes throwing nearly four scoreless innings to keep the Dodgers offense in check.

Los Angeles made things interesting in the ninth when Max Muncy hit a two-out solo home run to cut the deficit to one.

That forced Braves manager Walt Weiss to turn to closer Raisel Iglesias, who recorded the final out to secure the victory.

The win gives Atlanta home-field advantage heading into Games 3 and 4 at Truist Park, with the Braves now needing two more victories to advance.

Game 3 is set for Tuesday after a travel day Monday, with Dodgers ace and playoff riser Yoshinobu Yamamoto expected to face Atlanta's Chris Sale.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.
