NYC mayor unveils strategy to combat antisemitism

(CNN, KYMA) - New York City has unveiled a new multi-million dollar strategy to combat antisemitism.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani made the announcement Tuesday in a social media video, saying the plan includes more than $30 million in funding for hate crime prevention.

Mayor Mamdani will also restart the Interagency Security Infrastructure Working Group, which identifies threats to Jewish New Yorkers.

Funding will also go towards Jewish cultural centers and non-profits in the city.

Mamdani has been working to gain support from the Jewish community amid accusations of antisemitism from some groups over how he's handled protests outside synagogues.

He's also previously taken aim at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and accused him of war crimes.
