Former ‘American Idol’ contestant found guilty of murdering his wife

TROY, Ohio (CNN, KYMA) - An Ohio man has been found guilty of murdering his wife Tuesday.

A jury convicted Caleb Flynn of fatally shooting his wife Ashley in February. They deliberated for about two hours before reaching a verdict.

The trial lasted nearly two weeks with 40 witnesses taking the stand.

Prosecutors said Flynn murdered his wife, staged the crime scene, and tampered with evidence.

The 40-year-old former "American Idol" contestant claimed an intruder broke into his home and killed his wife in the middle of the night.

Flynn is set to be back in court October 5 for sentencing, where he is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.
