Brush fire at Oak Mountain State Park jumps containment line

PELHAM, Ala. (NBC, KYMA) - A lighting strike fire in Alabama that had been contained has jumped the lines.

Fire officials said the fire started in Oak Mountain State Park last week, and was contained Friday.

However, they believe a drop in humidity late Sunday night helped the blaze spread.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the fire had spread to 130 acres.

No homes or other structures are threatened, and no injuries have been reported.

Heavy smoke has caused poor air quality and people living nearby are encouraged to stay inside.
