Severe flooding across parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic U.S.

(CBS, KYMA) - Parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic were underwater Sunday.

Cars, golf carts, mobile homes were submerged in flood waters after heavy rains and severe storms slammed parts of the country.

The floods completely covered roadways and yards in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio and Iowa.

Crews used boats and pontoons to help rescue and evacuate residents.

One fire official in Ohio said this is the worst flooding he's seen in five decades.

The National Weather Service says more rain is expected to move through the Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast Monday.

The agency also forecasts more storms for the Ohio valley in the next day or so.
