The Root River in Minnesota floods due to heavy rainfall

LANESBORO, Minn. (NBC, KYMA) - Campers were evacuated from a Minnesota campground on Saturday due to flooding.

This happened in Lanesboro at Eagle Cliff Campground.

After heavy rainfall overnight caused the Root River to flood over its banks.

Around 35 campers were evacuated but other campers were allowed to remain in areas not impacted by the flooding.

Camp owner Dan Ritter said he expects the water to recede in a few days.

And to get more campers back on the grounds early next week.
