Tracking near-average temperatures plus breezy and drier conditions
Temperatures will be trending near to slightly above average through the week. Higher humidity will be felt in the morning and night hours, but drier in the afternoons. Also, tracking breezy conditions into the middle of the week
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - We are just one week from the start of the fall season.
The Fall Equinox will begin Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 5:05 p.m. in the Desert Southwest.
Today has been a warm and dry afternoon. Going into the evening, it will be warm, a little humid, and breezy. Dew points will climb back into the 60s, making it feel a little sticky by the morning hours.

Tracking more active and wet weather favoring further east for the next few days. For us here in the Desert Southwest, we are in to near and slightly above normal temperatures through the week along with drier conditions.
Breezy conditions will linger into our Wednesday morning and afternoon. Tracking winds from the south/southeast for Yuma County, with gusts 20-30 MPH.
It will stay breezy for Yuma County even into Wednesday. Those in Imperial County will encounter lighter winds, with winds coming from the north/northwest and gusts between 10-15 MPH.

Mornings and nights will still be a little on the humid side, but afternoons are going to be nice and dry.
Afternoons will be warm and drier, which will be more comfortable for being outdoors.
Tracking lots of sunshine with near-average to slightly above-normal temperatures throughout the week for the final week of summer.
Heading into next week, and to kick off the fall season, I am tracking even cooler temperatures with double-digit highs and lows in the mid to upper 70s. We will get a feel of fall come next, which will be great.
LOOKING AHEAD: On our FutureTrack temperature outlook we are in for slightly above-normal temperatures for the first week of fall.
As for precipitation, there is a slight chance of slightly above-normal rainfall shown on our 6-10 day outlook. We will see!
