17 million passengers expected to fly this Labor Day weekend

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - The last summer holiday is upon us and the nation's airlines are calling it the busiest Labor Day weekend in history.

According to the TSA, some 17-million passengers are expected to fly the friendly skies during the holiday weekend. With Friday and Monday being the peak travel days.

Los Angeles International Airport is expecting to see the largest share of travelers. Some 230,000 people flying in an out to destinations far and wide.

Bad weather could cause headaches and of course travelers are paying a lot more.

AAA says the average airfare this weekend, $750, is up 2% from last year.

But that isn't deterring some people from enjoying their time off.
