Car crashes into pedestrians in Fort Collins during Tour De Fat bicycle parade

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (NBC, KYMA) - One person has died and four others injured after they were hit by a pickup truck in Fort Collins. During the city's downtown Tour De Fat bicycle parade earlier Saturday.

According to Fort Collins police services, they received several calls about multiple people being struck by a truck on the sidewalk of West Mountain Ave just before noon.

Police say there were numerous bystanders on the scene due to the bicycle event that was taking place at the time.

When officers arrived they found that a Chevrolet pickup truck hit five pedestrians before ramming into a tree coming to a halt.

The driver and the injured pedestrians were all taken to area hospitals.

One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead, according to police and their identity has not yet been released.

Officers are investigating what led up to the crash exactly, but they do not believe those pedestrians were targeted.
