FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking a much needed cool down this weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Our Weather Authority First Alert Action Day continues through Saturday night, but a much needed cool down is on the way.

The Extreme Heat Warnings we have seen across the region for numerous weeks now are set to expire Saturday night at 8 p.m. Along with our First Alert Action Day coverage.

The high temperature in Yuma for Saturday is expected to reach 111°F. While in El Centro is tracking to hit 112°F.

Into Sunday, temperatures will begin to drop. A trend we're tracking to continue into the work week.

Sunday's high in Yuma is tracking to be 108°F. El Centro is expected to drop a bit as well to 110°F.

Into next week, temperatures are expected to be below that 110°F mark through the entire week.

Dew points are also tracking to be calmer than we have seen the past few weeks.

Expect 50-65°F dew points through the weekend in both Yuma and Imperial Counties. Putting us in better standing than last weekend where we saw tropical dew points at times in the 70°F range.

Winds are expected to remain calm throughout the weekend as well. In both counties, gusts are expected to be in the 5-12 miles per hour range in during the day time on Saturday.

Into the evening, gusts are tracking to remain similar with occasional gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

Into Sunday, Yuma County is also tracking a 10% chance to see some thunderstorms in the evening hours.

All things considered, we are finally getting a much needed break from the extreme heat. Be sure to practice heat safety regardless through the weekend to stay safe out there.
