Evacuations ordered for residents in Texas due to spreading Ross Fire

JACK COUNTY, TX (NBC, KYMA) - Residents in southern Jack County in Texas are being told to evacuate Tuesday morning due to the rapidly spreading Ross Fire.

An evacuation center has been set up at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center on Texas Highway 59 in Jacksboro.

Jacksboro ISD announced, in a Facebook post Tuesday morning, that the start of school would be delayed at least two hours out of an abundance of caution.

The Ross Fire started burning in Palo Pinto County on Monday afternoon.

The Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire is around 50,000 acres and is only 5% contained.
