FOREST GROVE, Ore. (NBC, KYMA) - A man suspected of killing five people and animals in Oregon has been found dead in Washington state.

Firefighters discovered the five bodies and remains of several domestic animals in a rural area outside Portland while responding to a report of a vehicle fire Saturday.

Detectives identified 36-year-old Benjamin Parker as a suspect and determined he was in Washington state. Then officers with the Enumclaw Police Department found his car and discovered him dead inside.

Authorities say Parker died by an apparent suicide.

Investigators do not believe the killings were random.
