Yuma City FC wins first-ever match, beats Cachanillas FC 2-1

MEXICALI, Mexico. (KYMA) - Yuma City FC is off and running.

The club played its first preseason match against Cachanillas FC, a third-division professional team from Mexicali, and came away with a 2-1 victory.

Yuma City FC opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Rodo Valenzuela assisted Miguel Nungaray, who found the back of the net for the first goal in club history.

Just seven minutes later, David Guillen doubled the lead with a one-touch chip over the goalkeeper after a beautiful long ball from Angel Ramos.

Cachanillas FC pulled one back late in the first half after a turnover led to an attacking opportunity and a rebound goal.

Yuma City FC held on in the second half to secure the 2-1 win, giving the new club its first victory as it begins a new era of professional soccer in Yuma.
