Yuma athletes honored at Chase Field after RBI World Series championship

PHOENIX (KYMA) - Five Yuma-area baseball players who helped the RBI Diamondbacks win the 2025 Nike RBI World Series Senior Division Championship were honored at Chase Field.

Julio Reina, Juan Pablo Chavez, Cesar Chavira, Carlos Gonzalez and Eli Lujan were part of the championship team, which finished the summer undefeated.

Four of the five athletes are already playing college baseball, while Gonzalez, a senior at San Luis High School, plans to continue his career at the next level.

The players received championship rings and new Rawlings gloves courtesy of Major League Baseball and Rawlings. They were also recognized during the Diamondbacks broadcast and on the stadium's big screen.

Diamondbacks star Corbin Carroll, who has supported and encouraged the team, was also presented with his own championship ring.

The Nike RBI program, which stands for Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, provides young athletes from underserved communities opportunities to play competitive baseball and gain valuable exposure.

For the Yuma-area players, the celebration at Chase Field marked a special reunion and a chance to celebrate their historic championship together.
