Small plane crashes into the ocean in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, Fla. (NBC, KYMA) - Beach goers got quite a scare when a small plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of Boca Raton, Florida Saturday.

Authorities say the single engine Piper was headed to the Bahamas when it went down in the ocean dangerously close to the beach just after 10:30 Saturday morning.

The pilot was the only occupant on board the plane and was pulled from the wreckage uninjured but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

No other injuries are being reported.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the crash.
