FBI searches former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s home, seizes electronic devices

(NBC, KYMA) - The FBI searched former Rep. Eric Swalwell's (D-Calif.) home and seized his electronic devices over the weekend.

A person familiar with the matter told NBC News, the searches are related to sexual misconduct allegations against the former congressman.

Former Rep. Swalwell was stopped by the FBI at the San Francisco Airport Saturday, August 15, and his devices were taken as part of a search warrant. Agents also searched his home in Washington, D.C. the next day.

An attorney for Swalwell did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the FBI declined to comment on the warrants.

Following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct this spring, the seven-term congressman announced his resignation from Congress in April, and ended his campaign for California governor where he had been considered a top contender.

Swalwell has denied all allegations of criminal wrongdoing.
