Arrest made in connection with the most destructive wildfire burning in the Spokane area

SPOKANE, Wash. (NBC, KYMA) - Authorities in Washington state have made an arrest in connection with the most destructive wildfire burning in the Spokane area.

Investigators arrested 37-year-old Aaron Farinacci on suspicion of first-degree arson in connection with the old trails fire.

Authorities say tips from residents about suspicious behavior before the fire helped lead to the arrest after additional evidence was developed.

Farinacci is being held on one million dollars bail and is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday.

Officials say the Old Trails fire has destroyed hundreds of structures and forced tens of thousands of evacuations.

Investigators continue to examine the cause of two other nearby fires.
