Family of South Carolina foster child killed is calling for justice

CHESTER, S.C. (NBC, KYMA) - The family of a 13-year-old boy who was killed while under the care of a foster family is calling for justice.

Daryl Martinez Lowry was killed during a fight on July 20.

According to an affidavit, the fight happened on a boat dock in Modoc. During the altercation, Lowry was stabbed before he was held underwater until he died.

17-year-old Landen Moore has been charged with Lowry's murder as an adult and a 16-year-old is also facing charges, but their name was not released.

At a press conference Friday, an attorney for Lowry's family ask for answers about how something like this could happen while a child is in the custody of the state.
