Spokane Area Fires now burning over 5,300 acres

SPOKANE, Wash. (NBC, KYMA) - Crews continue to battle the Spokane Area Fires burning in Washington state Sunday.

As of this morning the blaze which began as three separate fires was estimated to be 5,390 acres with no containment.

According to California Interagency Incident Management Team 7, as many at 600 structures have been destroyed per preliminary assessments.

Evacuation orders in the area have been expanded, and a shelter has been opened for evacuees at the Spokane Convention Center.
