El Centro PD arrests suspect for assault with a deadly weapon

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA) - The El Centro Police Department (ECPD) arrested a suspect for assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers received a report Wednesday morning that the suspect assaulted and strangled the victim before picking up a knife and attempting to stab them.

With the help of the Brawley Police Department, the suspect was found and arrested, ECPD said in a Facebook post.

The suspect initially ran from officers and barricaded himself inside of a car before surrendering when officers shattered the rear window.

He was safely taken into custody and booked into the Imperial County Jail on multiple felony charges.

The suspect was wanted for multiple felony offenses, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and felony domestic violence.
