Ohio officer accidentally shot by friendly fire

COLUMBUS, OH. (NBC, KYMA ) - What began as a response to a domestic dispute in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday, ended with an officer shot. Just after 6pm, police were responding to a Northeast Columbus complex where they encountered a dog.

During the interaction with the animal at least one officer discharged their firearm, accidentally striking the other officer.

Police say the officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover. Animal control also responded to remove the dog.

Police have not said whether the dog was acting aggressively or how many shots were fired.
