LOS ANGELES (KYMA) - The Arizona Diamondbacks head into the MLB All-Star break with plenty of momentum after completing a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 5-3 comeback victory on Sunday at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Shohei Ohtani launched the first pitch of the game from Diamondbacks rookie left-hander Mitch Bratt over the center-field wall for his ninth leadoff home run of the season. Giving Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.

The Dodgers added to their advantage in the third inning when Tommy Edman delivered a two-out, two-run single to extend the lead to 3-0.

Arizona began its comeback in the fifth inning. Nolan Arenado drove in Ildemaro Vargas with an RBI double before the Diamondbacks added another run later in the inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Diamondbacks completed the rally in the sixth. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. tied the game at 3-3 after a soft ground ball resulted in a run scoring at the plate. Moments later, Vargas lined an RBI single down the right-field line to give Arizona its first lead of the afternoon at 4-3. Vargas was thrown out attempting to return to first base after taking a wide turn, but not before driving home the go-ahead run.

Arizona added an insurance run in the ninth when Tim Tawa hit a two-out solo home run to stretch the lead to 5-3.

Paul Sewald closed out the game in the bottom of the ninth, securing the victory and completing the Diamondbacks' sweep of the defending World Series champions.

The Diamondbacks will return to Chase Field following the All-Star break to begin a home series against the St. Louis Cardinals. While the Dodgers will travel to New York to take on the Yankees in a 2024 World Series rematch.
