Kia recalls nearly 463,000 U.S. vehicles over fire risk

(CBS, KYMA) - Regulators say Kia is recalling 462,869 vehicles due to a fire risk.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), "The front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob or an improper recall 24V407 repair, which can result in a fire while parked or driving."

As a remedy, dealers will install an electronic fuse assembly free of charge, NHTSA added in summary posted Thursday.

The recall covers Kia Tellurides from 2020-2024. Telluride vehicles manufactured since May 30, 2024 are equipped with a reinforced power seat switch mechanism.
