CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Fatal fireworks incident kills seven-year-old

DUNN, N.C. (NBC, KYMA) - A seven-year-old boy died Saturday night in North Carolina after an illegal firework was launched through an apartment window.

Shocking video shows one illegal firework shooting through a window on the Fourth of July at Ashbrooke Apartments in Dunn, North Carolina.

That firework started a fire that family members say killed the seven-year-old, identified as Cashmere Parker.

Family members say Parker's father is still in the hospital due to smoke inhalation. The fire damaged four units and displaced several residents.

Now a woman has been arrested in connection with the child's death, facing charges including involuntary manslaughter

Dunn Police Chief Timothy Gay explained, "It's just senseless. We can't just have people randomly setting off fireworks and causing this damage...We can replace buildings, but we can not replace that child."
