USPS to raise Forever Stamp prices

(CNN, KYMA) - Mailing a letter could soon cost people more as the United State Postal Service (USPS) plans to raise the price of a first-class Forever Stamp from 78 cents to 82 cents, pending approval from federal regulators.

If approved, the new price would take effect Sunday.

Postcard prices would also go up, with domestic postcards rising to 65 cents and international postcards to $1.75.

USPS says it needs more revenue to help offset rising operating costs as it works to remain self-funded.

Stamp prices have climbed steadily in recent years. A first-class Forever Stamp cost just 55 cents in 2020, but the USPS maintains that its postage rates still remain among the lowest in the world.
