Mass shooting downtown Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (NBC, KYMA) - An investigation is ongoing in a series of shootings police believe were connected in Downtown Rochester early Sunday morning.

Multiple victims including seven people who were shot and another was stabbed after gunfire erupted at two locations near East Avenue and East Broad Street just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police say the victims, ranging in age from 12 to 40-years-old , are all expected to survive. Investigators say most of the victims appear to have been unintended targets as surveillance video is reviewed.

During the response to the scene, police stopped two vehicles and recovered three loaded handguns, including a ghost gun with an extended magazine.

Two men, ages 28 and 29, and a 17-year-old male are facing weapon charges.
