YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The United States Men’s National Team received a major boost ahead of its World Cup Round of 16 matchup against Belgium after FIFA confirmed striker Folarin Balogun will be eligible to play despite receiving a red card earlier in the tournament. Balogun becomes the first player sent off at this year's World Cup to avoid a suspension, giving the Americans another key weapon as they look to advance to the quarterfinals.

Mexico’s World Cup run came to an end with a 3-2 loss to England in the Round of 16. Jude Bellingham scored twice in the first half and Harry Kane added a penalty as England held on despite playing with 10 men for nearly an hour. England advances to face Norway in the quarterfinals, while the United States remains the lone co-host nation still alive in the tournament.

In Major League Baseball, the San Diego Padres avoided a four-game sweep with a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night. Manny Machado's three-run home run highlighted the win, while Mason Miller picked up his 22nd save of the season as San Diego snapped an eight-game losing streak.
