Port of Hueneme in California receives funding

PORT HUENEME, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - Port of Hueneme is getting major upgrades.

State and federal investments are helping fund projects aimed at modernizing the port, reducing emissions and preparing it for future growth.

Officials say the improvements include dredging the harbor, upgrading wharfs, installing shore power so ships can plug into electricity while docked, and adding electric cargo-handling equipment.

They say the projects will help move goods more efficiently, improve air quality and create strong ties with the local workforce.
