YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Father's Day brought a major championship celebration for Wyndham Clark and a frustrating finish for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

At Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, Clark completed a wire-to-wire victory at the 2026 U.S. Open, securing his second career U.S. Open championship. Entering the final round with a six-shot lead, Clark remained in control despite a late push from Sam Burns, who briefly cut the deficit on the back nine.

Burns had a chance to pull even on the 16th hole but missed a crucial birdie putt. Clark stayed steady down the stretch and tapped in on the 18th green to claim the title and a winner's prize of approximately $4.5 million.

Back in Phoenix, the Arizona Diamondbacks were unable to earn their third consecutive series victory, falling 4-2 to the Minnesota Twins at Chase Field. Arizona received a strong performance from right-hander Jose Cabrera in his Major League debut, as he tossed five scoreless innings.

The Diamondbacks grabbed an early 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run double from Ketel Marte, but Minnesota rallied with four runs over the final three innings to complete the comeback.

Despite the loss, Arizona did not lose any ground in the National League West race. The San Diego Padres dropped a 4-3 decision to the Texas Rangers, while the Los Angeles Dodgers were routed 12-1 by the Baltimore Orioles. With every NL West team suffering a loss on Sunday, the division standings remained unchanged heading into the new week.
