Tracking a hot and humid start to the week with slightly cooler days ahead

Heading into Tuesday, I am tracking a slight chance for more isolated storms being possible along with hotter temperatures. We are in for slightly cooler temperatures later this week. Remember to stay cool and hydrate.

We got some monsoon activity earlier today in parts of southern Yuma County. There were a few isolated storms that popped-up west of Somerton earlier this morning and early afternoon. These brought lots of lightning strikes, some rain, and thunder to the area.

Here's what our radar was looking like earlier today.

Today is the start of the monsoon season, and we did get a little monsoon activity in some parts of Yuma County.

A few isolated storms that popped up earlier today brought some measurable rain in some areas for Yuma County. A few spots got about a tenth of an inch or less. Take a look.

Going into the evening, expect it to be a warm and humid night. Temperatures will stay in the triple-digits until 8 p.m., with dew points staying elevated in the high 50s and low 60s through the night.

Great evening to stay indoors or to do a nightly swim to cool off.

Heading into Tuesday I am tracking lingering moisture that may bring more isolated showers and storms within the Desert Southwest Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Tracking higher heat heading into Tuesday, with highs climbing at or over the 110 mark across the Desert Southwest.

An eastern Pacific lower pressure system will help dry out and cool down our temperatures later this week.

For our week ahead, I am tracking lots of sunshine and hotter temperatures into Tuesday.

We are in for slightly cooler, but still above-normal temperatures by the middle of the week. It will be a warm weekend for Father’s Day weekend.
