Tracking warm and humid conditions this weekend

Weather Authority / KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yesterday we experienced our first showers in a long time in Yuma County. That moisture in the air has brought humid conditions that we're tracking to last the rest of the weekend and possibly into next week.

Temperatures are remaining in the triple-digit range across the Desert Southwest. We are 6-8 degrees hotter than normal for this time of the year, and those high temps aren't going anywhere.

In Yuma County, we're tracking highs of 108°F here on Saturday. Looking ahead to Sunday, we're tracking highs of 109°F. With dew points in the high 50s, low 60s, we're tracking a warm and humid rest of the weekend.

Similarly in the Imperial Valley, high temps on Saturday are expected to reach 111°F and just like Yuma County, a one degree increase for Sunday. With the high expected to reach 112°F.

We will get some wind gusts throughout the weekend as well. In both Yuma County and the Imperial Valley, around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday we should see gusts around 20-22 miles per hour.

Gusts will calm down over night into Sunday morning, but at the same time as Saturday, at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, we're tracking wind gusts of 16-19 miles per hour in Yuma County. The Imperial Valley will see gusts in the 23-24 mile per hour range.

It's going to be a bit uncomfortable this weekend so be sure to get those activities done in the early morning with those cooler temperatures. On Sunday morning our low temperatures will be around 80°F across the Desert Southwest.
