Large fire breaks out at recycling center in London

LONDON (CBS, KYMA) - A large fire broke out at a recycling center next to railway lines in Bermondsey, London Monday, causing major disruptions to train traffic during the evening rush hour.

The London Fire Brigade said 15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters had responded to the blaze.

They advised residents to keep their windows and doors closed "due to the significant amount of smoke in the area."

The fire was under control a few hours later, according to a post on X.

Network Rail said the fire was causing severe delays to train services in South London, and warned customers that trains could be canceled, postponed or diverted through the evening.

Footage captured shows heavy, dark smoke billowing from the fire Monday.
