Pima County sheriff announces crackdown in Nancy Guthrie’s neighborhood

TUCSON, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has announced a crackdown on unlawful behavior from people visiting Nancy Guthrie's neighborhood, including some YouTubers who have been arrested.

The crackdown comes after complaints from residents concerning "egregious" behavior have tripled, and comes as the investigation into Guthrie's disappearance goes into a fifth month.

Sheriff Nanos now says enough is enough, saying his office has asked people to respect those who live in the neighborhood through education and warnings, but when that didn't work, deputies began issuing citations.

At least three arrests have been made when some individuals continued with the same behavior despite the citations.

"If someone is just out there from our local media outlets, or even a YouTuber, and they have not been cited, then fine, we will give you a citation, expect you to be reasonable with us and not come back. But if we happen to look at you and say 'No,' you have received a ticket, you have been cited for the same behavior and that didn't do you any good, you have upped the ante for me so we're going to now take you to jail. I'll use the word YouTubers. The complaints got to be pretty egregious in that the behavior of those individuals was becoming pretty scary, pretty frightful."

Nanos says the new policy is aimed at habitual offenders, and the YouTubers who were taken into custody now face charges for public nuisance, among others.
