Possible meteor spotted near Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBS, KYMA) - A possible meteor could be seen on doorbell camera footage from a north New York resident early Wednesday morning.

Buffalo meteorologist Pat Hammer said he had received reports of "an explosion and a flash of light…felt, heard and seen" at around 5:15 a.m. Eastern.

Footage captured shows a streak of light in the sky, as captured from a doorbell camera in East Amherst, northeast of Buffalo.

The American Meteorological Society was still confirming pending fireball reports from the Buffalo area at the time of this report.
