Dodgers take series in Milwaukee behind big fifth inning

MILWAUKEE (KYMA) - The National League West division leading Los Angeles Dodgers used a breakout fifth inning to secure a series win over the National League Central division leading Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field.

Milwaukee struck first in the bottom of the second inning with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound for Los Angeles.

Sal Frelick continued his strong series at the plate, driving in a run on a fielder's choice to give the Brewers an early 1-0 lead.

The Dodgers responded in the top of the fourth with a run, then broke it open in the top of the fifth.

Newly acquired star Kyle Tucker delivered one of the big hits of the inning, ripping a two-run triple down the first base line to score Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman and put Los Angeles in front.

The offense kept rolling moments later when Andy Pages launched a two-run home run, capping off a four-run inning for the Dodgers and extending the lead to 5-1.

This proved to be more than enough run support as Los Angeles closed out the win and claimed the rubber match in Milwaukee, continuing to build its lead atop the tightly contested NL West.
