Tracking a warm and sunny Memorial Day weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - We are tracking a warm and sunny Memorial Day weekend for locals to get out and enjoy the weather.

For Saturday, highs are expected to be 95 degrees in Yuma and 94 to 95 degrees in the surrounding cities in Yuma County while in the Imperial Valley, El Centro and Imperial are expected to be at 97 degrees.

Wind gusts Saturday morning were sitting in the 14 to 17 miles per hour range in Yuma County and nine to 12 miles per hour range in the Imperial Valley, making it a nice morning to golf or enjoy an outdoor breakfast.

It will get a bit breezier as the day goes on. Wind gusts will be up in the 20 to 21 miles per hour range in the Imperial Valley and 18 to 20 miles per hour range in Yuma County around 4:30 p.m.

In Yuma County, the gusts are expected to calm down heading into Saturday night and will remain steady until Sunday around 10:30 a.m. By 3:30 p.m. Sunday, gusts will be back into that same 18-20 miles per hour range.

Looking ahead in the Imperial Valley, Sunday's highs are expected to be 97 degrees and Monday is expected to be one of the warmest day's of the week at 98.

Temperatures will cool off on Wednesday and Thursday, sitting at highs of 88 degrees and will heat back up next Saturday at 98 degrees.

It will be similar in Yuma County with Sunday and Monday's highs at 97 degrees. During the middle of the week, the high temperatures will drop a bit to 91 and 90 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. It will warm back up though next Saturday, with highs expected to be at 97 degrees.
