Yuma Catholic to host pair of summer basketball events for young athletes

Shamrock Skills Camp and Cactus League aim to develop fundamentals, teamwork and love for the game

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma Catholic is preparing for a busy summer on the hardwood with two basketball opportunities for young athletes in the Yuma community.

The Shamrocks will host the Shamrock Skills Camp from June 23-25 for boys and girls entering third through eighth grade.

The three-day camp will focus on fundamental skill development, games and coaching instruction from Yuma Catholic coaches and players and run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Camp participants will take part in drills, mini-games and 5-on-5 competition while also learning teamwork and sportsmanship. The cost to attend is $200. You can pay through cash, check or Venmo.

Yuma Catholic is also bringing back the Cactus League after a successful inaugural year last summer.

The league is open to boys and girls entering fourth through sixth grade and will run from June 2-25. The Cactus League will feature two games per week in a team-oriented environment focused on skill development, teamwork and player growth.

The cost for the league is $100 and can be paid for via cash, check or Venmo as well.

Both events are designed to give young athletes of all skill levels an opportunity to improve their game while enjoying a fun basketball experience during the summer.
