U.K. army specialists delivers medical support to British national suspected of having hantavirus

TRISTAN DA CUNHA (CBS, KYMA) - U.K. army specialists conducted a "daring parachute operation" to deliver medical support to a British national in Tristan da Cunha suspected of having hantavirus Saturday, officials said.

A "team of six paratroopers and two military clinicians" parachuted onto the island, the most remote British territory, as medical supplies were airdropped.

"With oxygen supplies on the island at a critical level, an airdrop with medical personnel was the only method of getting vital care to the patient in time," Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said.

The U.K. Ministry of Defense released the footage, some of it sped up, showing the perspective of a paratrooper on the mission.
