Hazen Fire continues to burn near Buckeye

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (KYMA) - Fire crews in Arizona are working around the clock on a growing brush fire near Buckeye.

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management says the Hazen Fire has grown to nearly 1,000 acres and remains at 0% contained.

Crews used helicopters and air tankers to knock down spot fires ahead of the main flames while firefighters continued working overnight to protect containment lines.

Officials say people nearby can expect to see smoke and active flames, but no evacuations have been ordered at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and some roads in the area, including Hazen Road, are closed to non-emergency traffic.
