Sudden hailstorm sweeps across Houston

HOUSTON (CBS, KYMA) - A sudden hailstorm battered Houston overnight into Friday after weather officials warned of heavy downpours, pea-sized hail, and gusty winds.

Storms would continue to impact the area through Friday evening, the National Weather Service said.

Footage taken by Michael Grabois in the Clear Lake area of Houston shortly after midnight Friday.

He wrote on X that the hailstorm "only lasted a few minutes before turning to rain."

In a follow-up post Friday, Grabois wrote, "Hail in Clear Lake last night. Lasted about 5 minutes, then the rain melted it all. This was taken through my closed back door, it was much louder with the door open."
