Cause of death for teen found in D4vd’s trunk

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - The cause and manner of death has been released for the 14-year-old girl whose body was found dismembered in the trunk of singer D4vd's Tesla in California last year.

The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner has determined the manner her death to be homicide.

According to records released Wednesday, Celeste Rivas Hernandez died from "multiple penetrating injuries caused by objects."

The department said Hernandez's autopsy was limited by "extensive postmortem changes," but found two penetrating wounds to her torso, and other wounds that penetrated her liver and chest, according to death investigation the summary released.

21 year-old D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was charged this past Monday with first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse, and mutilation of human remains.

Burke has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.

Previously, LAPD had prevented the medical examiner's office from releasing details about the teen's death, but L.A. County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Odey Ukpo said, in the statement, it was "unfathomable" for her family to wait for the cause and manner of death.
