NYPD releases bodycam video of Grand Central Parkway rescue

(NBC, KYMA) - The New York Police Department (NYPD) have released video of a daring rescue by officers who helped three passengers out of a burning car.

Last month, New York State Police troopers found the vehicle on the Grand Central Parkway, with officers from the NYPD arriving to assist. The car was engulfed by flames when help arrived.

First responders pulled the three passengers to safety while another doused the flames with a fire extinguisher.

The driver was already out of the car.

All four people were hospitalized with injuries, but the full extent of those injuries is not clear.

A State Police investigation determined the driver's actions led to the crash and the driver has been charged with "assault, child endangerment, and reckless driving."
